Community Café at the BACH
The Community Café was run initially by Paul Elliston and was restarted post pandemic to enable Kate to connect with the community.
The Community Café runs every Wednesday afternoon between 2pm and 4pm and each week we have a regular knit and crochet group meet and monthly we have a Repair Café on the 2nd Wednesday of the month and a Loss and Bereavement Group on the 1st Wednesday of the month.
Stay and Play Group at the BACH
We started out Stay and Play Group in November 2022 on a Thursday morning from 10.30am until 12 noon, this has proved to be so popular, we also run a group now on a Wednesday from 12.30pm until 2pm. Non structured sessions allow parents time to socialise while the children play, it has been lovely meeting lots of lovely little ones this year and their families.
The sessions are free of charge and we offer free coffee and biscuits for everyone, however donations of biscuits or tea and coffee welcome.
Community Quiz Nights
The Parish Council and The Tacchi Morris run a monthly Community Quiz Night at the bar upstairs in the Tacchi Morris which has proved to be very popular. There is no charge for attending, however you do need to book with the Tacchi Morris Booking Office and we do ask for a donation towards 2nd team prize. First prize is tickets to see a show for all of the team. Book early to avoid disappointment, tables get booked up very quickly.
Events at Maidenbrook Park & Somerset Wood
With West Monkton Parish Council and Cheddon Fitzpaine Parish Council securing a lease with Somerset Council for Maidenbrook Park and Somerset Wood which ensures the green wedge between Taunton and the parishes.
In 2022 we celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with the lighting of the Beacon and a ‘Party in the Park’ for the community. This was our first event of this kind and was more popular than we imagined. We have used feedback to help plan appropriately for activities this year.
