The Parish Council, after a very protracted period of negotiation, has acquired the land allocated for sports pitches adjacent to the Eastern Relief Road between the Canal roundabout and the Hardys Road roundabout.
The Parish Council has been working to acquire the land to ensure the delivery of the sports pitches following non delivery by the Developer.
Over the coming months groundworks will take place on the land to add the required drainage and seed the pitches.
Subject to the Parish Council acquiring the required planning permission and funding, the aspiration is to deliver a multi-use sports site including provision for rugby, cricket and a BMX track or skate park, an illustration of the proposal is available below:
A Sports Pitch Committee has been established to oversee the delivery of the Sports Pitch. Membership of the Committee includes Parish Councillors and representatives of Taunton Rugby Club and West Monkton Cricket Club. The Committee Meeting papers are available here.
