VACANCY FOR A COUNCILOR

TO BE FILLED BY CO-OPTION

The above parish council will consider filling by co-option a casual vacancy for

a councillor at its meeting to be held

on Tuesday 13th August 2024 at 7pm at Brittons Ash Community Hall, Bridgwater Road, Bathpool, Taunton, TA2 8FT.

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR VACANCY

24 hours per week

(three full days, one day to be worked at the weekend)

Fixed term employment for three years

SCP 20-23 (£15.75 – £16.67 per hour – pay award pending) according to experience and qualifications

22 days holiday + public holidays (pro rata)

We are looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to join us on a part-time basis for three days a week, to include one day at the weekend.

About the role:

The Volunteer Coordinator will enable the recruitment, support and training of volunteers to manage and maintain Maidenbrook Country Park to realise the vision for the Country Park of being a green, open space and central hub for our community to volunteer, meet, visit and join with other community members at community events; building the sense of community whilst supporting the health and wellbeing of our community.

Key Requirements:

You will have excellent volunteer coordinator skills, a proven ability to build relationships with volunteers and have excellent communication skills.  You will ideally have skills of managing / maintaining open spaces / countryside and operating equipment, but training can be given and experience of enabling the sharing of skills.

You will need to be able to work on your own initiative and be effective working both independently and as part of a team. You need to be computer literate, able to maintain databases and records and develop schedules.

West Monkton Parish Council is a friendly, busy and proactive parish made up of two Clerks, an Administrative and Events Assistant, nine Parish Councillors and a number of active community volunteers.

Administrative and Events Assistant Vacancy

ADMINISTRATIVE AND EVENTS ASSISTANT VACANCY
16 hours per week
SCP 2 to 5 (£11.62 – £12.21 per hour – pay award pending) according to experience and qualifications
22 days holiday + public holidays (pro rata)

We are looking for an Administrative and Events Assistant to join us on a part-time basis normally working Tuesday to Thursday with occasional evening and weekend work when events are planned to take place.

About the role:
The Administrative and Events Assistant will support the Parish Clerk and Assistant Clerk Community to carry out the functions of the Parish Council to secure delivery of its vision “for West Monkton Parish Council and the local community to work together to protect and improve the social, recreational and environmental well-being of West Monkton and the lives of all who live, visit and work here”.

Key Requirements:
You will have good and accurate literacy, numeracy and administrative skills, excellent communication skills and be able to work on your own initiative and be effective working both independently and as part of a team. You need to be computer literate, able to plan and organise and be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines. You should be a good listener and be confident and empathetic in dealing with the public.
